Coomb Briggs Primary School

ABP Soapbox Competition

Coomb Briggs has strong links with Associated British Ports (A.B.P.) Earlier this year they launched a competition for our pupils, challenging them to design a Soapbox that could be built by their apprentices and entered into the Hull Soapbox Derby in July. We generated 190 designs and the A.B.P. staff took many weeks to select a winner. The designs were so diverse and so colourful.

In a presentation assembly on 7th April staff from A.B.P. presented some commendations and prizes. The winning design was generated by a Year 6 pupil.

A.B.P. will keep us updated about the construction and pupils will be visiting the workshop to meet the apprentices.

Alongside this competition we also launched a Soapbox model competition. This was won by a Year 4 pupil.
